To Yankee fans, over the last two decades, the team has meant Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, and the all-time greatest closer, Mariano Rivera. The new edition (with the exception of Mark Teixeira, Brett Gardner, and Alex Rodriguez) are a bunch of strangers. And we all know the baggage that A-Rod brings. The pitching staff are virtual unknowns except for CC Sabathia, who is on his last legs. Due to numerous slight and serious injuries, manager Joe Girardi has had to use the NY-Scranton shuffle. And yet, he has this team fighting for the pennant (or at least a wild card bid). September is going to be a very interesting month!
